Bagpipes, breathtaking views, and an unforgettable celebration filled with heart.
When a bride grows up on the shores of Lake Erie and the groom hails from Glasgow you know their wedding is going to be something special. For Allison and Paul—who now live in California—the decision to return to her home in Cleveland, Ohio for their wedding. What unfolded was a gorgeous backyard celebration filled with family, tradition, and thoughtful touches—from the sound of bagpipes echoing over the water to vibrant florals, artisan catering, and a dancing under the stars.
Here’s a closer look at this deeply personal and beautifully executed Lake Erie wedding.
A Backyard Wedding with Heart
Allison’s parents opened their home to host the couple’s wedding, creating an intimate and welcoming setting. The property’s waterfront views set the scene for a relaxed yet elegant event. The layout with a large white tent, farm chairs, bistro lighting, and burlap linens accented by mixed patterned floral napkins in warm, vintage-inspired tones. Bud vases with fresh eucalyptus and florals from Tuthills created an organic, romantic tablescape that paired perfectly with the lakefront setting. It was a wedding full of texture, warmth, and story. Every detail was curated to feel meaningful—never overdone, but always intentional.
Artisan Food & Signature Sips
The couple wanted an elevated backyard dinner party experience, and that’s exactly what we helped them create. Cleveland’s own Spice Catering delivered a jaw-dropping seasonal menu featuring:
Marinated spring vegetable salad
Braised short rib
Seared Lake Erie walleye
House-made focaccia and local whipped butter
A vegetarian curry option packed with color and flavor
During cocktail hour, guests enjoyed passed hors d'oeuvres like mushroom gougères and salmon mousse bites, along with signature drinks:
Paul’s cocktail: Tito’s, soda, and grapefruit juice
Allison’s mocktail: Seedlip with tonic, grenadine, and cherry
The beverage station was fully stocked with wines, local beers, and craft cocktail ingredients, creating a guest-forward drink experience that felt celebratory but relaxed.
Traditions & Thoughtful Moments
To honor Paul’s Irish heritage, a live bagpiper welcomed guests as they arrived—and later led the processional down the aisle. It was a moment of pure magic as the notes of traditional Irish music floated over the lake. Their ceremony, held on the deck, included personalized vows, readings, and the breaking of the glass. Guests cooled off with paper fans and enjoyed views of the water as the couple said “I do.” The entire day flowed beautifully, thanks to a detailed timeline and lots of hands-on support from the 212 team—including setup and seamless coordination with vendors.
A Sweet Ending with Family & Cake
After toasts, dancing, and heartfelt speeches from family and friends, the couple cut a stunning two-tiered cake by By Cenza, adorned with edible florals. Guests danced the night away under the stars before heading to Society Lounge for an afterparty in downtown Cleveland.
From the beginning, Allison and Paul’s vision was clear: they wanted their wedding to feel like home—warm, joyful, and full of love.
